Reclaimed & Hand-Dyed Cotton Mending Thread
This beautiful hand-dyed cotton thread is perfect for adding some visible repairs to your favourite pair of jeans or t-shirt.
A fine quality, 3-ply thread sourced from a U.K supplier of pre-consumer textile waste yarns. This has been rescued and upcycled by us into some fab colourful mending thread helping to avoid unneccessary waste from the textle industry from entering landfill...so I suppose you could call it a super eco-friendly thread!
It has a tight twist which won't split apart as you weave unlike most commercially available embroidery floss and a matt, non-sheen finish helping you to create a natural looking darn.
Each colour has been locally-dyed by Caroline Bawn of Gorgeous Yarns in her dye kitchen here in Cornwall using a combination of natural and/or low-impact dyes.
All the colours are fixed with a mineral mordant (alum) which ensures they are light and colourfast*.
The thread is presented on a Ministry of Mending card for easy storage and winding. Our cards are printed locally in Cornwall using 100% recycled card (FSC certified & chlorine-free).
Each card contains approximately 10 m (33 ft) of thread.
Please note: Every effort has been taken to ensure these photos are an accurate representation of the colours, but since every computer monitor and mobile device is different, we cannot guarantee the colour will be an exact match to what you see online.
* Naturally-dyed thread has tonal variations rather than a flat colour which is the beauty of hand dyeing and over time the colour will fade gradually with regular washing.
